It’s really summer here! I hope you are having lovely summer days too! Today was a calm summer day. The girls were on a creative camp together so my husband and I were at home alone. We enjoyed the slow rhythm and stillness. While he was working in my new studio, I was working on new porcelain earrings on the terrace.
It’s not so usual that I work outside as the warmth makes the porcelain quickly dry but today it worked out quite well. It was so nice to enjoy the view of our garden, listen to the birds and see the butterflies dancing around.
Tiny leaves and flower petals for the new earrings. I use real flowers and leaves to make the textures. Once they are colored and glazed one can clearly see the details of the leaf veins.
And I wasn’t the only one who was working outside… this green stinkbug was flying around and took a look at my working table. The bumblebees must love our lavender and they fly ceaselessly to collect pollen. I wonder if they even take a pause…
As the day went the by, the colors became softer and a golden glow came over the garden. Subtle autumn colors are already slowly noticeable. We haven’t got rain for almost 6 weeks now. Some plants and and all our ground cover plants are brown. The drought has a big impact on the garden, it makes me sad to see. It’s exceptional for our country to have this drought and we’re not used to it. My husband and I have to water vegetable garden often now. Luckily we have a rainwater well but I don’t know for how long the water will be enough. I hope and pray that the rain will come soon.
After many pairs of earrings it’s time to make dinner for the two of us. It was a luxury to take the time to cook and not to hurry, so our dinner was served an hour later than usual. A little round in the garden to collect some veggies to cook with. We enjoyed a colorful dish with salad, pasta, carrot and zucchini tagliatelle and a fried egg from our chickens. What a lovely day this day was!
